This is a 4 acre mature plantsman's garden with rare trees, shrubs, roses and bulbs. Mixed borders, raised beds, pergola, topiary and shade borders.  The cottage garden was created by MCL Garden Design, planted for colour, an iris garden with 100 varieties of tall bearded irises.

We had a guided tour by the owner Joan Pumfrey, amongst all the informal planting areas there was one set aside solely for silvery leafed plants this was created some years ago to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.

Hidden behind the white wall who would have thought there was such an abundance for plants, shrubs and trees and that's just in the front garden, at the back there's an 'L' shaped garden with even more to see.

The 1¾ acre garden adjoining ancient bluebell woods created by the owner from 1995 onwards, with many areas to explore. A professionally designed vegetable garden, large composting areas, wild flower garden and pond, old and new fruit trees, many shrubs, much varied hedging and large areas of lawn.

Further away from the house the grounds become more informal with streams and a woodland area that invites you to stroll about in a more naturalistic setting, a most recently created feature is a gravel garden.

The 11 acre plot has an evolving garden including herbaceous borders and a field turned to prairie with many grasses inspired by the Dutch style.
