The cutting garden at South Stoke certainly lived up to it name Green and Gorgeous! We were greeted by Rachel the owner and shown round what proved to be a plant smorgasbord of colour, textures and perfumes. Polytunnels and fields of Roses, Dahlias, Snapdragons, Zinnias, Lavender, Ammi, Nigella, Phlox, Crocosmia, Achillia, Sweet peas, fruit, vegetables and even some etcs the list was endless, they have a wide variety of plants and flowers supplying weddings, corporate events and their own farm gate.
Rachel describe and was able to demonstrate that by working in harmony with the seasons they can grow a rich palette of flowers, together with a sustainable approach to plant husbandry, their plants can thrive in a wildlife garden scenario, hence they are full organic and compost all their own waste material. We were able to gain many useful tips on taking cuttings, when to cut perennials back and on watering. Following the hour and half tour we socialised over refreshment and some bought G&G plants which were on sale.
